Disproving the Gossip

Jennifer Aniston has confirmed rumours she has had a nose job, but denies she has had her breasts enlarged.
The Break-Up star has admitted she did have surgery but insists it was for health reasons rather than for vanity.
She told People magazine: "I had a deviated septum fixed - best thing I ever did. I slept like a baby for the first time in years."
The 37-year-old actress denies having a boob job but says she's not quite sure how to prove it.

Cuban TV shows 'stronger' Castro
BBC News. Wednesday, 31 January 2007
Mr Castro said: "This is far from being a lost battle"
Cuban television has shown its first pictures for three months of ailing leader Fidel Castro.
Mr Castro, 80, was seen standing during a meeting with Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, which was said to have taken place on Monday.
He appeared frail but stronger than three months ago.
Mr Castro has not been seen in public since undergoing gastric surgery in July, prompting speculation that he had cancer or was terminally ill.

Court orders drug user to memorise Koran
Reuters | Wednesday, 24 January 2007
RIYADH: A Saudi court has ordered a drug user to spend six months memorising the Koran, but he faces a year in prison if he fails to recite the Muslim holy book by heart, a newspaper said today.
The "alternative sentence" saves the Saudi man from Jeddah from a six-month jail term, al-Watan said. But that sentence will be doubled if his Koranic recitation classes fail to make him a "hafez", someone who knows the Koran by heart.
There are more than 77,000 words in the Koran. It takes on average two years to study.
Saudi Arabia's religious courts apply strict Islamic sharia law. But it is largely uncodified and judges have wide discretion when it comes to sentencing.

Dinosaurs, humans coexist in US creation museum
Reuters | Tuesday, 16 January 2007
LET THERE BE DINOSAURS!
A creation museum in Petersburg, Kentucky, shows dinosaurs and humans coexisting in Biblical times. The museum's Christian curator Ken Ham believes that nearly half a million people a year will come to see his Biblically 'correct' version of history.
PETERSBURG: Ken Ham's sprawling creation museum isn't even open yet, but an expansion is already underway in the state-of-the art lobby, where grunting dinosaurs and animatronic humans coexist in a Biblical paradise.
A crush of media attention and packed preview sessions have convinced Ham that nearly half a million people a year will come to Kentucky to see his Biblically correct version of history.
"I think we'll be surprised at how many people come," Ham said as he dodged dozens of designers working to finish exhibits in time for the May 28 opening.
The $US27 million project, which also includes a planetarium, a special-effects theater, nature trails and a small lake, is privately funded by people who believe the Bible's first book, Genesis, is literally true.
....long article, it gets worse, believe me......

Dutch shocked at disfigurement dating show
Reuters | Thursday, 25 January 2007
The Netherlands, the country that has pioneered reality shows like Big Brother, is planning a new first – a dating programme for the visibly disfigured.
The broadcaster SBS 6 is seeking candidates for its Love at Second Sight show due to be launched on February 20.
"Do you have a visible serious handicap and are you looking for a partner?" says an appeal on its website.
"The programme is a platform for people with such problems to share experiences and feelings in a positive way with the rest of the Netherlands and to show that they are absolutely not pitiful," the broadcaster said.
"The main aim of the programme is to remove prejudice about these people, to create more acceptance and respect and, of course, to find the love of their lives."
But the majority of Dutch viewers are turned off by the show that was initially set to be called Monster Love. A poll by the mass circulation De Telegraaf daily showed 85 per cent do not like the idea, with only 9 per cent in favour

PARIS: A French Muslim who attacked a male gynaecologist for examining his wife just after she had given birth, saying it was against Islam, has been jailed for six months by a Paris court.
Fouad ben Moussa burst into the delivery room at a Paris hospital last November and shoved, slapped and insulted Dr Jean-Francois Oury as he examined the woman after a complicated birth, the prosecution said in court on Wednesday.
Police had to intervene to remove him.

In a fit of rage, a Romanian doctor cut off a patient's penis during surgery and then proceeded to mutilate it.
The 36-year-old Romanian man had gone into Bucharest hospital to have corrective surgery on one of his testicles. During the operation, surgeon Naum Ciomu lost his temper, picked up a scalpel and hacked off the man's penis.
To the shock of the nursing staff, he then placed the penis on the operating table and proceeded to chop it into small pieces before storming out of the theatre, the Metro.co.uk website reported this week.
Afterwards, Ciomu claimed he had been under stress and lost his temper after he accidentally cut the man's urinary channel and 'overreacted'.
Ciomu has since had his medical license suspended and a Romanian court has ordered him to pay $NZ284,351 in damages to the man with the mutilated member.
The court also ordered the hospital to pay $NZ56,858 costs to the man to pay for the operation to rebuild his penis using tissue from his arm
