Existentialism for Academics

0/0 29.03.2007 16:23 English

One hour ago I went down to the post office with my final dissertation. I have sacrificed four years of my life for an MBA. I now have my life back and have no idea what to do with it.

The Acquisition

0/0 22.03.2007 20:55 English

ok so I have been away a bit. I've been busy working on managing our company being acquired by Ericsson. We will move from our lovely little office in the centre of Stockholm into a sprawling industrial complex in Kista on the outskirts of town. bye bye Mobeon.

I now have to work out what to do with 250 branded bags, a half a ton of mint-flavoured wrapped chocolates and a store-room I can't get into as it is full of you-name-it.

Anyway, at 3GSM Barcelona in Feb, LogicaCMG had skinny girls in stilletto heels walking around wearing nothing but handpainted musical notes and logos all over their bodies. The press had a field day and by the second day they had changed plans and were wearing bikinis (plus a mess of handpainted logos). So much for subtlety.

The New Punch and Judy Show

0/0 14.03.2007 15:04 English

The Sabian Mandaeans - one of the oldest religious groups in the world - are facing extinction, according to its leaders.
They claim that Islamic extremists in Iraq are trying to wipe them out through forced conversions, rape and murder.

The Mandaeans are pacifists, followers of Adam, Noah and John the Baptist.

They have lived in what is now Iraq since before Islam and Christianity.....

...it goes on.

Is this actually for real or just a bad joke? I mean, can someone tell these idiots that the dark ages were not actually all that swell.

Go girl go. The public will love ya!

Britney Pouring Her Feelings Into Poems
March 07, 2007 Miscellaneous

Contact Music reports Britney’s aides are encouraging the pop superstar to pour out her rehab emotions in her journal because the last time she did, it inspired a string of hits. The TOXIC singer, who is currently seeking counselling at Promises rehab centre in Malibu, California, has started scribbling down her inner-most feelings about her struggle with addiction, and family and friends couldn’t be happier. When Spears previously took time to write down her thoughts and feelings, she came up with hits like I’M NOT A GIRL, NOT YET A WOMAN. A source tells the new issue of America’s Life + Style magazine, “She’s really baring her soul.” And a pal adds, “When Britney writes in her journal, it’s as if there’s no one else there but her. I’ve seen her cry or laugh out loud, but she’s really in her own world. “(She used to) pour her feelings into poems in her journal. She’s always found writing to be cathartic.” And the journal notes aren’t the only things Spears is writing in rehab - she’s also penning a series of apology letters, which are part of the centre’s recovery programme. An insider says, “The letters aren’t meant to be sent. They just help her work through her feelings and issues.”

Heavy petting? Try this Dutch dating web site
Reuters | Monday, 26 February 2007

AMSTERDAM: Looking for the love of your life? Does your pet put potential partners off? – There is now a website where you can find a partner compatible with your dog, cat, snake or spider.

A new Dutch website – www.dier-en-mens.nl – says it is a meeting place for all animal lovers, whether you are looking for a partner, someone who also likes snakes and spiders or someone who takes care of your chickens when you want to go away for the weekend.

"How can you find a nice partner who is just as crazy about animals as you are?" said Betty Mercey on Sunday who launched the dating site this weekend which is called "Animal and Human".

Members of the site can describe themselves and their pets, and when they think they have found someone who also likes their pets, they can contact each other through the website.

"I've heard from friends who have pets that it is difficult to find a partner. Specifically if you have more than one pet," said Mercey, who owns thirteen dogs and four cats with her partner.

Since the launch of the Dutch-language website, inspired by similar sites in the United States and Britain, 13 people have registered, of which the majority are female, Mercey said.

"I think women are quicker to do these things, and that there are more women than men who have several pets, as men tend to work full time and have less time for animals," she said

Bring on the Nukes!

0/0 26.02.2007 09:42 English

TEHRAN, Iran (Reuters) -- Iran has no brake and no reverse gear in its nuclear program, President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Sunday, while a deputy foreign minister vowed Tehran was prepared for any eventuality, "even for war."

The tough talk comes ahead of a meeting this week of officials from the U.N. Security Council plus Germany in London to consider possible further steps after limited sanctions were imposed on Tehran in December.

"Iran has obtained the technology to produce nuclear fuel and Iran's move is like a train ... which has no brake and no reverse gear," Ahmadinejad said, ISNA news agency reported.
